Other Work Experiences

 

 

R. J. Lee Group is a materials characterization, forensics engineering, and information management company, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

 

I spent three summers working for R. J. Lee Group, where I performed transition electron microscope (TEM) preparation, inorganic chemistry preparation and analysis, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) work. To find out more about the techniques I performed, visit my resume. 

Both my freshman and sophomore year of college, I worked as a chemistry laboratory teaching assistant (TA) and tutor for the general chemistry classes.

 

As a TA, I helped a professor in a three hour lab each week, answering student's questions about the lab or classroom material, and preventing an accidents that might happen. 

 

As a tutor, I met with students individually, twice a week, helping them study for exams, going through practice problems, or helping them write lab reports. 

Deer Valley YMCA Family Camp is situated in the mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania. Considered one of the best family camps in the United States, the camp hosts a variety of different family-friendly activities. In the summer, families camp for a week, while the rest of the year, familys come for the weekend to stay. 

 

My family has gone to Deer Valley since 1998, and I began volunteering my time in high school, first working in the kitchens, then as a counselor in training, and finally as a staff member. I've worked hundreds of hours there, and volunteered for hundreds more, all in a variety of different positions ranging from music director to horse barn director to kids counselor. The Dickinson College Eco-Reps are a group of dedicated student volunteers that are assigned to a residence hall to enhance sustainable living through passive and active programming. The Eco-Reps Supervisor is a part of the Center for Sustainability Education.

 

As the Eco-Reps supervisor in the Spring of 2013, I led weekly meetings, helped plan events, and gave general support to the 30 Eco-Reps.
