Academics

Chemistry

Ever since I first took chemistry in high school, I knew I had found my passion. Chemistry is fascinating and fun, as well as applicable to many aspects of life. While learning about chemistry is my favorite part of the subject, I've begun to love the research portion of chemistry, which I've applied to my geological research.

Earth Science and Geology

While I've always been fascinated with geology due to the influence from my grandparents, my pursuit of geology in college arose from the love of the outdoors. While I love chemistry, I would rather not spend all day in a lab, and instead have found ways to apply my knowledge of chemistry to the study of geology.

The Liberal Arts

When deciding on a college, I knew that I needed to go somewhere that I could continue to take classes outside of my major, because of my love of learning. Attending a liberal arts college has allowed me to take classes in a variety of fields, including creative writing, Africana studies, sociology, English, and history, alloing me to expand my knowledge of the world.

Sustainability

While I've always been involved in sustainability, this passion has developed greatly throughout my college career. I've invested my time in the Center for Sustainability Education as the Biking@Dickinson Manager, and taken many classes connected to sustainability. This has culminated in Baird Sustainability Fellowship

Writing

Going to a liberal arts college has shaped my writing ability in various disciplines. Not only have I written dozens of lab reports based on classroom experiments, but also literature-based papers in science and history classes, as well as response papers and creative writing. Music

I fell in love with stringed instruments when I started playing violin in third grade. Since then, I've begun to play the guitar, banjo, ukulele, and harmonica. In college, I was able to expand on my previous guitar lessons, learning how to play classical guitar.
